Top 10 Most Dog Friendly Cities in the USA

Is your city dog friendly? We did some research, and looked at things like:

• Number of dog parks
• Dog-friendly restaurants and areas
• Pet care stores and services
• Access to walking/hiking trails
• Weather
• Pet-focused events

In no particular order, these are our top 10 choices! Let us know which cities we missed.

1. San Diego, CA – weather, pet-friendly hotels, lots of hiking trails, pet-friendly beaches, annual dog surfing competition, on-leash and off-leash dog parks that the City of San Diego has an official page to help you find, dog-friendly restaurants
2. Portland, OR – numerous off-leash dog parks, pet-friendly hotels, pet-friendly restaurants,  hiking/biking trails, camping, walking tours of downtown area, lots to do outdoors
3. Seattle, WA – dogs can ride the bus, off-leash dog parks, dog-friendly restaurants, some ferry cruises allow dogs, dog friendly kayak, canoe and paddle boarding, lots of outdoor shopping, very impressive pet care services, plenty of areas to walk and camp (just make sure your dog doesn’t mind the rain)
4. Chicago, IL – dog-friendly beaches, outdoor farmer’s market, Chicago White Sox Dog Day, pet bakeries, walks around the lake, Navy Pier is a “must-do” with your dog
5. Orlando, FL – off-leash parks, great weather, pet-care at Disney, Turkey Lake Park, Downtown Orlando Farmer’s Market
6. Austin, TX – home of the iFetch, outdoor activities: Zilker Park, dog-friendly restaurants, hike the Greenbelt, visit Austin Doga (yoga for dogs), dog park/bar combos (like Yard Bar), walk the trails by Ladybird Lake and swim at Red Bud Isle, off-leash dog parks
